Preventative dental sealants are a great way to prevent tooth decay from developing on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. A resin coating seals up the deep pit and fissures of the teeth, preventing bacteria from entering and starting the decay process. Sealants are particularly important as a preventative tool for decay in children with newly erupted molars.
